Yesterday and today my Mc Donalds and Starbuck experiences have consisted of listening to groups of older men sitting around talking about their millions and telling tales of shit that happened along the way and laughing at people that were at the top and then fell off, it’s a different world over here, all the time I’m wondering what the fuck they’re doing sitting in Micky D’s drinking just about the shittiest coffee you can find, if even it is ‘coffee’.  Maybe they’re all just playing make believe and afterwards they all disband and walk back to the trailer park from where they came, I doubt it though.

I had breakfast beside the hostel this morning before checking out and hitting the road, hangover in toe, and rode out the day and the hangover on the bike, Santa Barbara is a classy joint, it makes Dalkey look like Crumlin (uh oh), then onto Malibu which has lots more people and beaches, I’m tired of looking at hotties everywhere….okay, maybe that’s a lie but large people stand out over here like the elephant on the beach, and homeless guy on the bike is all but invisible!

I met Anup and Ben on the road today about 40km south of the hostel in their Mercedes convertible, they were staying at the hostel last night and came out for drinks, making their way to Santa Monica tonight, they totally looked the part over here with the flash car! Super nice guys which I hope to bump into again in San Diego for a few.

Tonight I spent at Leo Carrillo Sate Park where I met three other bikers in the hike and bike area, one of which was the guy I passed twice with two punctures, he stopped at a state park just before the two closed ones that I hit along the way so he was fine for the night.
