Free day today, I agreed with Kat the night before to stay one more day as the room wasn’t booked by anyone else.  I got up late enough after the truck load of beers consumed yesterday.  I had my first hangover of the trip so I had a sluggish day taking it easy.  At about 1pm Kat took me horse riding to the local beach, I took Lilly and she had Toad and Red came along for the hike untethered.  The first Two miles or so were along the road and then we hit an off road trail after that before crossing sand dunes and finally hitting the beach.

I’ve not been on horses before so it was a little nerve wracking for me, If one of these horses takes of I haven’t a clue what to do with it if I manage to stay on!  There was one point along the road where a dog ran out after the horses and they just started to bolt, I could feel the damn things accelerate and it scared the living shit out of me, luckily the rest of the day went a little smoother.  Riding up and down the sand dunes was also a little daunting, I’m used to being transported by things with wheels, not 4 bendy sticks beneath me.  We finally got to the beach and sea, 3 horses on the beach, I felt like Tato out of ‘Into The West’ such a cliche!

I was pretty glad to be back at the ranch after the few hours on the horses as a lot of the time they were walking side by side and my left leg was being squeezed between the two horses which was so bloody painful with the wounds from my fall there still extremely sensitive.

Later in the evening I got to wash and dry all my clothes so that they were back to new, it’s nice knowing all your stuff is clean again for a few more days.  I ate chinese takaway that Kat had ordered earlier & stayed up until twelveish watching TV with her housemate Tony before shooting off to bed.

Is it not Into the West, rather than War of the Buttons? Get yer Irish cinema right!
